Welcome

Thank you for visiting Skidgel Studios. My name is Cindy Skidgel and I'm an artist who enjoys working in many mediums, choosing to focus on the subject matters of nature and animals rather than one medium.
I work in both flat and dimensional needle felted fiber art. I have been focusing on developing my unique bas relief style to include environments for my subjects to live in.
I've rediscovered my original love of drawing and painting and also work in watercolor and acrylic.

I seek to connect with my audience by sharing with them intimate places they may recognize from their outdoor experiences. It is my hope that they will think of conservation for future generations when they connect with my work.
I have a special appreciation and love for birds. I started birding in 2018 and spend much of my free time exploring their worlds, observing their behaviors, and capturing them with my photography. My photos help me create my artwork with authenticity and accuracy.

Inspiration

My inspiration comes from many sources, but a strong one in my life is nature. The textures, forms, and colors from nature influence my work. I enjoy traveling to National Parks, and some of my favorites are in South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming. I hope to visit more in new locales to experience more of what nature has to offer.
Animals are my constant inspiration and I especially enjoy learning about wild animals around the world as I tell their story through my work.
